Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a central role in shaping individual character and morality. However, the challenges in teaching PAI are increasingly complex with the demands of the times. This article discusses the potential of problem-based learning in the PAI context as an innovative solution to increase the effectiveness of the learning process. This approach encourages students to explore a deep understanding of Islamic values through exploring real cases and solving problems that are relevant to everyday life. Through a critical analysis of the concept of problem- based learning, this article outlines how this approach can be optimized to support PAI goals, including the development of morals, social sensitivity, and a more holistic understanding of Islamic teachings. By exploring the potential of problem-based learning, it is hoped that this approach can make a significant contribution to updating PAI teaching methods that are more contextual and relevant to students' daily lives.
